An animated story about a chick that yearns to distinguish itself, but whose efforts lead to constant misfortune. This children’s animated film contains no overtly political appeals or characters, yet carries a distinct ideological subtext affirming the superiority of the collectivist way of life over the individualist one.
The film was made in the Ukrainian language, which points to a degree of continuity in the Korenizatsiia-Ukrainization process extending into the mid-1930s.
A film copy was preserved in the collection of the Bundesarchiv and was digitized and transferred in 2024 with the support of Adelheid Heftberger and the Bundesarchiv team, as well as Ivan Kozlenko.
