An animated propagandistic story about the animals of Antarctica who joyfully welcome Soviet polar explorers led by researcher Ivan Papanin. The animals proclaim the explorers the masters of the pole and ceremonially hand over their resources. Despite its ideological content, the film was created in the style of contemporary American animation, matching it in both the complexity of its artwork and the sophistication of its technique. The film became one of the studio’s last works before a forced hiatus of nearly 20 years.

The film’s audio track of this copy has not been preserved. According to the Bundesarchiv, during World War II the film was seized by the Germans from the Kyiv film studio while still unfinished and remained largely inaccessible for viewing in the archive for a long time.

A film print of the work was preserved in the collection of the Bundesarchiv and was digitized and transferred in 2024 with the support of Adelheid Heftberger and the Bundesarchiv team, as well as Ivan Kozlenko.
